When using
any rope grab, freefall distance must never exceed 6'. The best way to
ensure a reduce the possibility of serious injury. OSHA mandates that free fall
distances not exceed 6'.
Gemtor recommends that an energy absorber be part of a fall arrest system
whenever possible, in order to ensure that forces incurred during a fall are
less than the OSHA limit of 1,800 lbs. (See pg. 6 for energy absorbing
lanyards, pg. 11 for energy absorbing rope grabs or pg. 10 for self-retracting
lanyards and lifelines.)
Care should be taken to prevent abrasions or cuts. Ropes with larger diameters
have greater abrasion resistance.
Specify length when ordering. All lanyards, lifelines and positioning lines
come standard with Model # 3155 locking snaphook(s) with 5/8" gate opening. use
a 2' or 3' long lanyard.
